This is the second time I’ve had this sandwich, and I still haven’t decided if I like it yet. It’s “grilled salmon” (though, I suspect it comes pre-grilled from a packet and is just heated up) with some cream cheese and cucumbers on sourdough. I think it’s good. I think. I dunno. I’m not sure. I’ll have to try it again. So confusing.
I had a lot of pork ragu in the freezer from when I made it a week or two ago. I also had an eggplant that was reaching it’s time, so…. voila!
Stanley’s Tavern seems to be very “hit or miss”. I wasn’t impressed at all the first time I went there. The second time though, it knocked my socks off. Third time? Notsomuch. This time, however – very good! I stopped in for Brunch and got the Italian Benedict. Poached eggs, pancetta, and hollandaise on a croissant, with some homefries. Now, I’m *very* picky about home fries, and Stanley’s are the among the best I’ve had in a while (Lucky’s might be a bit better, but they’re a diner, so I’d expect them to make some good homefries). The benedict was great too – the eggs were poached perfectly, and there was enough pancetta to give a man a heart attack. Now, I *love* salt. If you don’t share my love of salt, this might be a bit much for you. I usually add a ton of salt to just about anything I eat, but this was almost too salty for me without adding any – so – if you have high blood pressure, this is one to stay away from. If you’re like me though, it’s a damn good way to start your day.
