I recently made my first trip over to Styer’s Garden Cafe, at Terrain at Styer’s. I have not been so impressed in a long time… At the Garden Cafe, you sit in a beautiful greenhouse with plants, and flowing water everywhere. First, they bring you out the “Pot of Bread”. It is exactly what it sounds like – a ceramic pot that has had bread baked in it. It is delicious! They serve it with a honey/sage butter topped with pink Hawaiian salt. The tea that they serve is from Random Tea Room in Philadelphia – my favorite spot for loose tea, and is actually brewed properly, as opposed to those places that throw a teabag in a mug and pour some lukewarm water over it. My fiancee wound up with the cheese plate, and I picked a small, but delectable dish – the Kennett Square Wild Mushrooms with Truffle Oil, a Fried Egg, and shaved Parmesan on top. Very simple, very good. Definitely one of the top 10 breakfasts I’ve ever had in my life.
Just for research purposes, to make sure my visit wasn’t a fluke (Yeah.. research purposes, that’s right), I stopped in again a couple weeks after this visit and was equally impressed. I also found out that the place is owned by Urban Outfitters. Who knew? Still – 100% Fantastic. Go there. Now.
