Aurea’s is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. It’s tucked behind the Food Lion in Claymont, in this little shopping center. They have legit Mexican food. The good stuff. There was a couple month period where my wife and I went there every Saturday morning.
Up top here, we have a Burrito Al Pastor. Love it. Love it, love it, love it. Presentation is beautiful, portion size is bordering on obscene, and it’s delicious.
Second here, we have a Torta. Essentially, a Mexican sandwich. This one was… well, I don’t remember actually, but I’ve never had a bad one there. I usually wind up having to take half of it home because they’re so filling.
Almost every time we go, Nicole winds up getting 3 tacos. I believe these are Lengua (Beef Tongue – don’t knock it till you try it!), Chorizo, and Carnitas. If you’re in a real Mexican restaurant, you’ll usually get radish slices with your tacos.
Ahh, the Gordita.. not at all like the things from Taco Bell. It’s a fried up corn cake filled with delicious goodness. Of the things I’ve tried at Aureas, it’s actually probably my least favorite – but it’s still delicious!
Now, I didn’t eat all of this in one sitting, of course. It’s a bunch of photos from several times we’ve been there. For 2 people though – I’d usually get a burrito or a torta and Nicole would get her 3 tacos. we’d each get a drink, and it wound run around $18 or so. Not bad at all! It’s so good, I’d pay twice that and still be happy. I just wish they delivered!
