FAQ:
Q: How do I submit my post?
A: There are currently two ways. You can either email or MMS your post (Picture and as much or as little text as you want) to post@thisiswhatimeating.com, or you can click the “What Are You Eating” link directly under our main banner at the top of the page, and fill out the submission form. Submissions without a picture will be rejected. If you have signed up for an account on ThisIsWhatImEating.com, and you submit the post using the same email address as is registered on your account, the post will show up as being from your username. If you do not, it will be posted by ‘Anonymous’.
Q: Do I need to sign up for an account to parcipate?
A: No! You are free to submit posts anonymously, as well as comment anonymously. Our site can also connect to your Facebook account and allow you to post/comment that way.
Q: How are comments moderated?
A: All anonymous comments are added to the moderation queue, and must be manually approved by an administrator. Comments from new users must also be manually approved, but once you have made some good contributions to the site, your account will be switched so that your comments do not need to be manually approved. Full posts (entries on the main page), however, must always be manually approved, regardless of who submits them.
Q: Who runs this site? Who do I contact if I have any questions/comments/concerns?
A: My name is Ross Logan – I run ThisIsWhatImEating.com. Please feel free to contact me directly via email.
Q: How long does it take for a post to get approved?
A: Posts are usually approved within 24 hours. Often they are approved much quicker than that. The one exception is when I (Ross) personally post something. Since this is my site, I post *everything* that I eat (with some minor exceptions – I’m not going to post the 2 potato chips that I snagged off my friends plate, for example). So that I don’t get overwhelmed, my personal posts are delayed by 2 days. This just makes it so that I have some wiggle room between when I take the picture/eat something, and when it goes live on the site. So, if you see a post with my name on it, I didn’t just eat that a couple minutes ago, I really ate it 2 days ago. Submissions from other users are not subject to this delay, however.
Q: What can I submit?
A: Just about anything you want. Food that you’re eating right now. Food that you’re in the process of (or have just finished) cooking. Something tasty that you saw somewhere. Whatever. The only rules are that the submission must include a picture. A description would be nice too, but if you don’t put one, we’ll just guess and make something up.
Q: How is it determined what posts get added to the ThisIsWhatImEating facebook/twitter/livejournal feed?
A: That determination is made on a post by post basis. I don’t like to fill up our facebook fans screens with too much stuff. If our facebook page hasn’t had a post in a couple hours, I’ll make sure the next submission gets posted. If the facebook page has received posts recently, but something that looks *great* comes in, I’ll post it too.
